The Department

Small class sizes create a supportive atmosphere designed to help students achieve their maximum potential. The degree takes advantage of faculty strengths: a strong commitment to teaching and active research programs in computational fields, often crossing discipline lines. Students have an ample opportunity to work with faculty in one-on-one research projects.

The City Experience
The environment outside the classroom provides the occasion to relax from the intensity of studying. Within walking distance of the campus, the city of Pittsburgh offers many opportunities to enjoy fine arts, sports, shopping, nightlife, restaurants, and other recreational activites. Pittsburgh is also home to many businesses that may provide opportunities for internships and employment for motivated students.
